"To open PBO’s season, I’ve chosen two captivating works created around myths and inspired by the muse. Based on a masque by English poet John Milton (born in 1608), Arne’s work Comus considers the timeless themes of chaos and order, and is quintessential 18th-century English music. Rameau’s Pygmalion (the source of which is Ovid’s Pygmalion myth) is classic French. I get no greater pleasure in life than conducting PBO in Rameau - no other orchestra plays it as well. I know these unusual works will pique your interest."
            - Nicholas McGegan, conductor
