Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, has fascinated artists and audiences for centuries, and 18th-century composers were no exception.  From England to Austria, Cleopatra appeared as a leading character in a number of operas, including Handel’s magnificent "Giulio Cesare."  Soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian – who made a stunning debut last season in Jake Heggie’s "To Hell and Back" – returns to sing arias for Cleopatra by Handel, Hasse, Graun and Mattheson.
