Scott Foglesong

Scholar-in-residence, lecturer, and program book annotator

Scott Foglesong is a pianist, musician, teacher, writer, and music historian. He has been on the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music since 1978, and he currently serves as Chair of the Department of Musicianship. In 2008, he received the Sarlo Family Foundation Award for excellence in teaching.

Since 1991, Foglesong has taught the course Music 27 (Introduction to Music) for the Fall Freshman program at U.C. Berkeley. He is also associated with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, as both a contributing writer and an “Inside Music” lecturer for the Symphony’s weekly subscription concerts.

Fogelsong studied at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and the San Francisco Conservatory.
