Mobile Mentors

Mobile Mentors Program for School Ensembles and Choruses

Philharmonia In-School Performer Carla Moore Demonstrates Her Baroque Violin and Bow.

Need a coach or clinician to give you or your students that competitive edge for an upcoming performance, festival or jury? Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra will provide aspecialist from the Orchestra or Chorale to visit and coach school repertoire in progress. Mobile Mentors might offer stylistic suggestions, provide historical context about the composers and compositions, demonstrate important elements of performance practice and offer practical advice about ensemble playing.

Students receive a coaching on Vivaldi’s Lute Concerto from Philharmonia musicians.

Mobile Mentors are provided free of charge for one session of coaching tailored to the individual needs of the teacher requesting the service. Repertoire should include music in the historical range between early Baroque through the early Romantic periods. The program is ideal for middle school to undergraduate student ensembles, and for groups that are polishing repertoire for performance. Multiple groups or levels can receive instruction during a single day, and subsequent visits may be possible.

Application deadline: Ongoing throughout the school year
