David Daniel Bowes has been music librarian for Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra since 1986. David began playing piano at age five and violin at age seven. He received two full five-year scholarships on each instrument at age 17. He fell in love with the viola during college, received an Aspen Music Festival Fellowship for four summers, and studied the release of tensions in string playing with Kato Havas in London. Other teachers included Lillian Fuchs and Karen Tuttle, Sigiswald Kuijken and Monica Huggett. He is a private teacher and serves as a string coach with the Golden Gate Philharmonic, a program for gifted young musicians. David is also a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson, working with Green Key Real Estate.
